Most books on this topic are long on rhetoric, and short on detail. To an extent this book is just like the rest. Lots of glossy photos, and lots of gaps in the text. That said, this book is better than most - due purely to its length. The problem with most 'how to" books, is that the authors assume that the readers can mind-read - it's what makes VCR programming guides unintelligible. I have done some car restoration, but I wouldn't want to rely on this book [anymore than any others I've read] as a starting point for a restoration, if I were a complete amateur.
Some topics are adequately dealt with; but sadly, other important topics are glossed over.
