(More customer reviews)As a model railroader, I am interested in having freight and passenger cars that match the originals - one must not "assume" that the model makers have done any real research to produce an accurate model (you DO know what the word "assume" means, right??). [...] This book will set you straight - with both the excellant color photos and with the short but to the point discriptions of when (and sometimes how) the various cars were used.
I have already "saved" the cost of this book by NOT buying several of those inappropriate ([...]) cars! Even on the "good" models, I have seen ways to "alter" my cars to make them more like the orginals - including the "weathering" seen in a lot of the photos.
If you are really interested in the "real" Rock Island (CRI&P) railroad, either as an historical "railfan" or as a model railroad builder, this book is a "must have!"
